2006 marks the fourth year in a row that Monica has been
voted "Best European Import" by the Tortoise and Hare Staff, once again
narrowly defeating Guinness, Stella Artois, Pilsner Urquell, and
pandemic Bird Flu. What James Joyce is to literature, Monica Joyce
is to "Old Bag Racing." Monica is not only an inspiration to arthritic
competitors everywhere she also is an inspiration to her own team by
being the only T&H runner with Olympic experience (IRE, '84 Games),
unless you count Mike's stint as Sergey Bubka's personal pole handler (ATL
'96). Her Olympic appearance puts the T&H Racing team atop the list of
Most Olympians on a Michigan Club Team, with one. Further evidence that
running for pride of country pales in comparison to running for pride of
T&H.
