WINTER CHALLENGE January 17th

Some of the group assembles before heading out for their Winter Challenge.  The weather was good, and the path clear!  Thank you all for coming.


Stay warm and dry with the right gear!

Keys to staying warm during winter running:

  1. Start at the base/skin layer.

  2. Layer with technical, performance fabrics.

  3. Use outer shell/jacket for wind/water protection.

  4. A hat, gloves, facemask can prevent body heat loss.

Tortoise and Hare staff can help you put your outfit together.


Keys to a successful exercise program:

  • Consistency.
  • Duration: build up to 60 minutes/day.
  • Minimum 5 days/week.
  • Low intensity: builds endurance and burns more fat.
  • Allow 10 days-2 weeks to adapt to a exercise load, before adding more.
  • Include core exercises 2-3 days/week.
  • Consistency!
